Swing Dance Series

Level 1 : 6-Count Swing

Six-count swing is a key fundamental to the world of Lindy Hop. Whether you're new to swing or here to brush up on your basics, Kevin and Megan are ready to help you master the art of six-count dance moves. All you need to be able to do is count to six!

Level 2: Getting into Shapes

Lindy Hop is all about movement and connection. Kevin and Megan will break down moves and explore connection in a series with each week devoted to moves revolving around similar shapes. Understand leading and following on a deeper level by focusing on your body movement with your partner. You may or may not get a workout, but you’ll definitely get into shapes!

Megan Mubaraki

Megan first discovered swing dancing purely by accident as a student at UC Berkeley. Megan eventually came to facilitate the student-led course, called SwingCal, and choreograph for performance troupes including The [M]ovement and Sproul Stompers. Over the past four years, she has taught, DJ'd, MC'd, choreographed, and organized for a variety of groups on and around the Berkeley campus, and since graduating from Berkeley she has helped found The Breakaway as the President and Volunteer Coordinator. More than anything, Megan loves dances that makes her and her partner laugh!

Kevin Hwang

Kevin Hwang has been an active member of the UC Berkeley and East Bay lindy hop community as a teacher, DJ, and organizer. He helped found the UC Berkeley performance team Sproul Stompers in 2013.

Every 3rd Friday of the month is The Breakaway's regular Open Practice session.

Next date: January 19th, 2018 at the Bellevue Club in Oakland.

It's FREE for ALL students!
