Our monthly class series are designed to progressively develop your skills on the dance floor. Every week, we build upon material covered in the previous classes. We are always rotating our instructors and introducing new topics. Subscribe to our newsletter in order to stay up-to-date on our newest classes!
IMPORTANT: We only allow drop-ins during the first week of class. It's a great way to try out a class and before committing to a whole month.
What is included when I buy a class series package?
Every week you get to practice on DJ'ed music on Tuesdays
One live band night on the last week of the month
We organize a monthly practice session for our students every third Friday for FREE, more info here.
What should I expect?
Partnered swing dancing is a role-based dance. Students may choose whichever role they prefer, either "Lead" or "Follow". We ask that students stick with their chosen role for the duration of the series in order to ensure a balanced ratio in our classes. Please note that no partner is required to register for a class.
Do I need to bring a partner?
No, not at all! We rotate partners frequently so students will have the opportunity to meet different people and experience a variety of styles.
What is a Taster Class?
A taster class is a one hour lesson that occurs every week to get new dancers familiar with the basic steps of East Coast Swing and Lindy Hop. It is included in the price of the admission. More info here.

Level 1 Series
Prerequisites: None. No partner required.
If you are new to swing dancing or want to refresh the fundamentals, this level is the one for you. Each series begins on the first Tuesday of the month and is progressive, which means that every week builds upon the moves taught in the previous class. The focus of this level is to develop the skills that will allow you to dance and have fun on the social dance floor from day #1. Drop-ins are allowed only on the first week. Level 1 has four months of curriculum that can be taken in any order.
Level 1A: 8-Count
Level 1B: Charleston
Level 1C: 6-Count
Level 1D: Elective
Level 2 Series
Prerequisites: Students are recommended to have completed four months of Level 1 classes and be comfortable with 6-count, 8-count and basic Charleston. No partner required.
This level is designed differently than our Level 1 class series. Level 2 class series is designed to give you the opportunity to get to know different dance philosophies and ways of dancing. This is why our teachers rotate and the curriculum is more open than our Level 1 class series.
In Level 2, we focus on quality of movement, partner connection, rhythm & cool footwork, musicality, and improvisation in a fun and playful environment. Teachers will bring their own special moves & technique and will help students to develop and polish their style.
If you feel ready and want to move to Level 2 come talk with any Breakaway team member for guidance. We will be happy to help! :)
