Beginner : Moving Together
The focus of this class is something fundamental to social dancing: Connection! After all, coordinating movement with another person is part of what makes this a partner dance as opposed to a solo dance. Starting with some basics and building up in complexity each week, you'll learn different moves to get you and your partner on the same page and jammin' together on the dance floor! No partner and no experience necessary.
Beginner Teachers: Andree George & Deniz Akin
Intermediate: Dancin' Slow
Sure, dancing is easier when the music's a little on the slower side, but when it's *really* slow? Suddenly it can be hard to stay balanced, stay on time, and not feel awkward throughout! Come learn how to milk out your swivels, find that sweet spot in your connection, and play with some new patterns you can use when the tempo gets low so that you can confidently and smoothly dance through those gorgeous slow songs!
Intermediate Teachers: Bryan Lopez & Jeannie Tran
Intermediate Elective: Training Sessions: Making "Moments"
It's the month before Camp Hollywood! And whether you're going or not, it's a fun time to talk about what it is that makes certain moments in a dance stick out. Whether it's to make an audience go wild or just to make your partner go ""woah, that was sick!"" it's a super fun skill to be able to create those moments. When you're really feeling it, and you show it in your dancing, the energy is infectious! In this shortened 3-week series, we'll use the moves and variations you've already learned in other classes, and bring out that energy so you can really own it!
You should have completed at least 6 months of Intermediate before taking this class.
Elective Topics Teacher: Calvin Lu & Paul Riding
Practice sESSION
Intermediate/Advanced Practice Session is held on the last Thursday of each month at 7-8pm, right before the dance.
These practices are meant for dancers who are very comfortable with Intermediate content, have danced and taken classes regularly for at least a year, and are willing to be more collaborative and self-directed than a typical class setting. Ideas will be given for inspiration, but you are encouraged to bring your own ideas to work on. Coming with a dance partner is not required but is allowed and recommended. Expect to workshop moves and ideas with other dancers, give and receive constructive feedback, and build connections in the Lindy Hop community!
