Beginner: Ready, Set, SWINGOUT
The Swingout!! THE move that defines so much of Lindy Hop. It's a move you'll be refining for the rest of your lindy hop journey, but for now we'll just start by learning the basics of it, as well as a variety of other classic lindy hop moves to put into your dancing. The swingout is critical for Level 2 and this class is well worth taking multiple times if you feel like you haven't got it down pat after just one month with it. No partner and no experience necessary.
Beginner Teachers: Samantha Nguyen & Calvin Lu
Intermediate: Pop Turns
Triple step turns are hard to do, but what makes pop turns so fun is how much both partners can be involved in making the turn easier to do for both of you! Learning the pop turn means combining turning, connection, and momentum technique all together in one slick motion. Come work on this cool turn, and turns like it, in this 3 week series!
Intermediate Teachers: Irina Semenova & Sonya Shaposhnikova
Advanced Topics: Three Wall Swingouts
This series is 2 weeks long: November 4th, & 11th.
LBN and Practice Session on November 18th included!
Requires prior approval for advanced topics see here.
At first a 3 wall swingout sounds impossible--adding an extra 180 degree rotation to your swingout and still keeping it 8 counts?? But have no fear, in this short 2 week class, Max and Steven will teach you that it's not only possible, but also super fun!
Advanced Topics Teachers: Max Ramirez & Steven Bach
Practice sESSION
Intermediate/Advanced Practice Session is held on the last Thursday of each month at 7-8pm, right before the dance.
These practices are meant for dancers who are very comfortable with Intermediate content, have danced and taken classes regularly for at least a year, and are willing to be more collaborative and self-directed than a typical class setting. Ideas will be given for inspiration, but you are encouraged to bring your own ideas to work on. Coming with a dance partner is not required but is allowed and recommended. Expect to workshop moves and ideas with other dancers, give and receive constructive feedback, and build connections in the Lindy Hop community!
