COVID Policy for SATS 2024
Hello Swingin’ at the Savoy (SATS) dancers and community!
Some context: The building we are in is a City of Oakland facility which houses the Oakland Senior Center during the week. Until July 2023, the City of Oakland required masking at all times while in any city owned facilities.
The City of Oakland mask policy sunsetted as of July 1st 2023. As of this date it is up to us to implement our own health and safety policies, though this may change at any point if the City of Oakland changes course.
Our Covid policy at this time is:
Masks are not required for classes or social dances
Attendance at the event will require adherence to this policy, even if it is updated between your purchase date and the event
Should you fall ill and be unable to attend, it will be handled in accordance with our refund policy:
Deferring pass for one year
Name Transfer under the following conditions:
Same track/role
Free of charge until January 31st, 2024 midnight
$25 fee until February 19th, 2024 midnight
No pass transfers after February 19th, 2024.
This policy may change at any point due to:
Governmental policy changes
Updated guidance from public health sources
SATS organizers sole discretion
If you do not agree to this policy, or the disclaimers below, do not purchase tickets to or attend SATS 2024.
Disclaimer: There is an inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 or other illnesses, in any public space where people are present. By attending SATS, you agree that entry is at your own risk and you voluntarily and expressly assume all risks associated with entry. We have put in place policies and preventative measures to reduce the spread of COVID-19, but cannot guarantee that exposure to or infection with COVID-19 will not occur while at SATS. You must assess your own risk tolerance and if you decide to register/attend, you agree to not hold SATS, The Breakaway, Silicon Valley Swing Dance or any of its staff, partners, or officers liable for contracting any illness.
Additional Guidelines Before Attending Swingin’ at the Savoy:
If you are feeling at all sick, sniffly, scratchy throat, feverish, chills, muscle ache, or abnormally tired, PLEASE don't attend the dance event!
Hand washing with soap and water before and during the event as well as the use of hand sanitizer is also highly encouraged between dance partners.
If you have come into close contact with someone diagnosed with Covid-19 in the last 5 days, please do not attend our event.
If you test positive for COVID-19 prior to attending SATS, you must have a minimum of 10 days pass, along with no symptoms.
If you do attend the dance event and later test positive for COVID, kindly inform the organizers and people you may have shared a dance with or had close contact with.
